Application

MasterCAN C 232/485 is used in fleet telematics systems to receive data on parameters of the vehicle operation from the standard CAN bus. It is suitable for any type of vehicles (trucks, buses, agricultural machinery) where CAN is used.

MasterCAN acts as FMS gateway

A tracking device with RS-232 or RS-485 input interface may be used to receive data. Details regarding the interface adjustment, protocol and contents of the transmitted data are available in MasterCAN vehicle data interface operation manual.

There are several options to connect MasterCAN C 232/485 to operate as a part of a telematics system. The basic options are provided below:

Option 1. Receiving data from CAN bus

MasterCAN C 232/485 can be connected to CAN bus either using CANCrocodile (recommended method), or by direct contact. In RS-232 and RS-485, text messages based on ASCII protocol are sent at a one second interval or messages based on Modbus protocol are sent in the request-response mode.

Option 2. Summation of data from several DUT-E CAN fuel level sensors

MasterCAN C 232/485 can be used for summation of data on the fuel volume in several tanks. It supports up to 8 tanks with DUT-E CAN fuel level sensors installed in them.
